In addition to selling great Israeli-made products for kids, we also strive to help improve the lives of children living in Israel. Toward that end, we support a handful of charities that have consistently demonstrated a strong degree of efficacy in improving the lives of the children they help. We will allocate 10% of our profits to these organizations. Below is a brief description of a few of the charities we support. Alyn Hospital Established almost 50 years ago, Alyn Hospital is one of the world's leading specialists in the active and intensive rehabilitation of children, regardless of religion or ethnic origin, with a broad range of physical disabilities. It is the only facility of its kind in Israel. The Hospital is home to 37 long term patients, including 13 respirator dependent patients - young people for whom there is no alternative to Alyn at the present time. The Hospital currently has 93 beds for hospitalized patients, 100 beds for day-care treatment and an Out Patient Clinic which receives some 4000 to 5000 patient visits a year. Alyn Hospital is a non-profit organization. Alyn is partially funded by hospitalization fees received from the various official sources referring patients for treatment. The deficit - a minimum of 25% each year - is raised from private donations through an international network of groups, chapters and individual supporters. In addition, private donations cover 100% of the costs of new and replacement equipment, special projects and programs, medical research and renovations. Over 2,500 of these youngsters participate in 24 sports branches at the Center, without discrimination of religion, race or sex. The Center is one of the world pioneers in the field of sports for the disabled. The spirit and motivation of sport is used as a means to help guide the disabled from a state of helplessness to productive, fulfilling lives. It has been proven that, in addition to promoting physical and mental rehabilitation, sports activities significantly prolong the life expectancy of the seriously disabled. From its humble beginning it has flourished and now operates through the generous support of the Jerusalem Post readers and friends worldwide. There are now three separate Funds, one of which is “The Toy Fund”, which LittleIsrael.com happily supports. Donations to the Toy Fund help improve the quality of life for the children of Israel. Providing opportunities for summer camps, school supplies and even shoes, are a few of the needs that the fund has helped with. Contributions made by LittleIsrael.com to the Toy Fund may be in-kind donations of toys, games or clothing as well as monetary gifts. OneFamily aims to stem the tide of terror and help rebuild shattered lives in a family-like environment that is supportive, understanding and tangible. Drawing on the collective expertise of the founders and the generous support of contributors, OneFamily moves quickly to deliver relief to the victims, families, and communities affected by the continuing terrorist attacks. Ironically, the people most targeted by terrorists are often the weakest members of society, those most in need: the poor, women, and children. OneFamily has become the conduit through which individuals, communities, news media, and others worldwide contact and help rehabilitate victims of terrorism. |
